If you are interested in self-sufficiency and want to grow/produce more of your own food this workshop is for you!
If want to be more connected to the food you eat and the land this workshop is for you!
If you enjoy meeting other like minded people in your community and want to invite more fun, creativity and nature into your life this workshop is for you!
Farm experience is not required. 

In this two day workshop we will cover many topics including:
Animal Husbandry, Bee Keeping, Gardening, Making Soap, Sourdough Bread and Butter, Canning and Fermenting, Forging and so much more!

Workshops begin at 9am and wrap up around 5:30pm.
Suppers both days are included and there will be some evening programming you’re welcome to join in on.
The event takes place at Farm One Forty near Vanscoy.

If you'd like to invite a guest to join in on supper and evening fun on either/both days you're most welcome to, we just need to cover the cost of their food.

FANTASTIC FOOD!

On Saturday and Sunday coffee and tea will be provided throughout the day as well as some mid morning snacks.  You are welcome to pack a lunch both days and forage your own salad from our gardens to go with it!
On Saturday for supper we will have Farm One Forty smokie on a bun with salads and sides from Odla Restaurant in Saskatoon.
On Sunday Chef Scott Dicks of Odla Restaurant will be coming out to do a cooking class for you!  He will be using ingredients from the farm and the end result will be your delicious supper that evening!
We are fully licensed and will have a cash bar in operation both evenings as well.

HERE ARE SOME OF CLASSES AND GUEST SPEAKERS

Gardening:

  • Identifying your gardening style and what systems would work best for you 
  • Planting times, weeding strategies, traditional and vermi-composting, soil building strategies

Animals:

  • Animal husbandry – behaviours, handling, birthing and basic care 
  • Planned Grazing and it’s role in regenerative farming
  • Fencing 101
  • Getting started with Honey bees, bee behaviour and honey production

Cooking/Food production:

  • Sourdough Bread demonstration with Wind Valley Farm
  • Odla Restaurant chef cooking demonstration
  • Grinding flour, making butter and lard rendering demonstrations
  • Food storage discussion – to freeze, to dry to can or ferment

Creativity and Play:

  • Optional sunrise yoga each day
  • Outdoor games like capture the flag, spike ball, bocce ball, croquet and ladder ball 
  • Handmade soap, Rhubarb leaf garden stepping stone
